Find the Right Neighborhood for You

If you're thinking about moving, buying your first home, or renting, you're choosing among 959 neighborhoods in Istanbul. Most people make this choice among the three or five areas they already know, yet the place they're looking for is often a neighborhood that never crossed their mind. This tool exists to put neighborhoods you don't know on your radar.

We ask you seven questions in turn: residents' income and education level, housing prices, public character, public transit, green space, noise, and the age of the building stock. For each question we also ask how important this is to you; a criterion you mark “not important” doesn't factor in at all, and one you mark “very important” outweighs the others.

Then we ask whether you want to be close to your workplace. If you do, you add your work address; after that, you can add as many other places as you like that you want to be close to, such as your mother's house or your child's school. The recommendation is built from both your answers and the distance to these addresses.

The criteria show the neighborhood's ranking within Istanbul, from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest). These aren't estimates; they were measured from population records, İBB open data, license lists, public transit data and a 50,000-household area survey.

The result isn't a ranking; it's a starting list. You can go into a neighborhood you like and see its population, building stock, earthquake scenario, transportation and resident satisfaction on its own page.
